Palmyra’s Hadley Hoffsmith Talks Longstreth Senior All ... - PennLive

Max Field Hockey Top 100 recognition, U19 NIT Pool Champion status and All-State honors barely scratch the surface of Hoffsmith’s pre-collegiate career. It’s one that’s included back-to-back trips to the PIAA Class 2A final and nothing short of the state quarters each season at Palmyra, along with exiting as the Mid-Penn Conference Keystone Division Player of the Year.

Once Hoffsmith learned she was selected to the inaugural Longstreth Senior All-American game, it was only the latest addition to a loaded list of achievements.

“When I first saw that I got picked, I was just really honored and grateful that I got picked,” Hoffsmith told PennLive. “And it’s also an honor to be on that list with some of the best athletes in the nation. And I’m also just really excited for some good competition.”

Forty-five student-athletes from around the country were selected to compete in the Longstreth Senior All-American game, which kicks off at 6 p.M. On July 11 at The Proving Grounds in Conshohocken, Pa.

According to Longstreth, top high school field hockey players across the nation were selected primarily based on recognition from MAX Field Hockey after the conclusion of the 2024 varsity season this past fall.

PennLive will be the live-streaming partner for the Longstreth Senior All-American game. The game will be presented for free courtesy of Longstreth Sporting Goods.

While Hoffsmith was selected, she recently sustained a hip injury and wasn’t cleared in time to compete in next Friday’s showcase. Still planning to attend, the Travers Award finalist is eager for the Leadership Seminar to better her own depth of knowledge on and off the field.

It’s a packed session with a lineup of USWNT U21 coach Ange Bradley, Director of the Penn Athletics Wharton Leadership Academy Amy Coffey, Olympians Dr. Andrea Wieland and Brooke DeBerdine, Pan American Cup gold medalist Kealsie Reeb, and Pan American Cup silver medalist and Olympic Qualifier Jillian Wolgemuth.

“I’m definitely looking forward to learning new things,” Hoffsmith said. “They have learning sessions, they have speakers coming. And although I can’t play right now, I can still benefit from that and take that with me into college. And also just being on the sidelines, listening to what the coaches have to say to the team, also learning in that way.”

There will be familiar faces for Hoffsmith at The Proving Grounds. A Penn State recruit, she’ll catch up with fellow incoming Nittany Lions Brooke Weaver (Manheim Township), Cooper Cutchins (Norfolk Academy, Va.) and Olivia Marthins (Haddonfield Memorial, N.J.).

Weaver is already Hoffsmith’s Alley Cats club teammate, and the two intend to tap into their established chemistry once they get going in Happy Valley.

“Brooke and I actually play on the same club team, so we’ve interacted a lot,” Hoffsmith said. “And then Olivia and Cooper, I’ve met them at a few camps, Penn State camps and on our official visit, but definitely this week we’ve gotten a lot closer and we’re all looking forward to the game.”

Hoffsmith added, “I’m definitely grateful that (Weaver) plays for my club and it pushes me to be better because knowing we’re going to the same college, I feel like we kind of feed off of each other. We both work really hard and want to be the best of the best. So both kind of just working off of each other and also having that same goal. We both want to play at Penn State.”

In a field hockey hotbed within the Mid-Penn, Hoffsmith has emerged as one of the top players in the country. And with almost 10% of the Longstreth All-American game roster being composed of Penn State signees, next Friday’s matinee provides the perfect tune-up before the NCAA season.

“It’s definitely good for our freshman class. Learning things from the game, bringing that knowledge with us this fall, I think will definitely help benefit our team,” Hoffsmith said. “And just having that experience playing at a higher speed and a higher level, I think will help transition us to the collegiate level.”
